About Central Plumbing & Heating, Inc.
In January 1959, as Alaska was receiving statehood, Central Plumbing & Heating, Inc. had its beginning in an old army surplus building on International Airport Road.
Ron Cooper was the plumber and his wife, Mary Ann ran the office.
- 1966 - A new building was built and a complete retail center was added.
- 1970 - The company incorporated and Ron's brother-in-law, George Benson, became a full partner.
- 1972 - Ron's two sons, Jeff and Mike Cooper, joined the firm to run the union shop's contracting and service/repair divisions.
- 1972 - A new 12,000 square foot warehouse was added to accommodate the growing business.
- 1982 - The small showroom in the retail store was remodeled to give customers another service.
- 1992 - The showroom was moved to the 2nd floor and enlarged to 1400 square feet. The new Upper Level Showroom now boasts 3 full-time people offering more plumbing and fixture knowledge than any other outlet in Anchorage.
- 1999- A new "heating" division was opened in the building next door to the original shop. -HeatLand- has approximately 2000 square feet of display space showing everything that heats anything-and four knowledgeable heating sales people at your service.
Currently, Central Plumbing has 6-10 union plumbers and 22 additional employees in the retail and showroom areas selling everything from plumbing/heating parts, fixtures and heaters to "solutions" to your problems.
Central Plumbing & Heating, Inc. remains family owned and operated by the Cooper families.
